Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治夢遺泄精及精滑. 黃柏(新瓦上炒赤)ㆍ眞蛤粉 各一斤, 眞珠 三兩. 右爲末, 滴水丸梧子大, 每取一百丸, 空心, 溫酒送下. 法曰, 陽盛乘陰, 故精泄. 黃柏降心火, 蛤粉醎而補腎陰. 易老方無珍珠一味. 《正傳》

Translation

Treats seminal emission in dreams and the essence slippery. Phellodendron (fried red on a new tile) and true clam shell powder 1 geun each; pearl 3 nyang. Powder them, make pills with water drops the size of a firmiana seed, and take a hundred at a time on an empty stomach, sent down with warm wine. The rule says: yang exuberant rides the yin, and so the essence leaks. Phellodendron downbears the heart fire; clam shell is salty and supplements the kidney yin. The Yeokro's formula lacks the pearl. — Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Jeong)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Phellodendron and clam shell at a pound each — the Yeokro's famous two-ingredient pill, with pearl added by the Jeongjeon. The reasoning is given in the entry: one to cool the fire above, one to feed the water below. A hundred pills at a dose is the size of the problem. Zhang Yuansu's version without the pearl is the one the tradition kept, and Jeongjijinjubun- hwan below is his again with the spirit medicinals added. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
