Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治心火旺盛, 腎水不足. 心有所欲, 速於感動, 疾于施泄. 黃柏(炒) 二兩, 縮砂一兩, 甘草五錢, 半夏(炒)ㆍ猪苓ㆍ茯苓ㆍ紅蓮蘂ㆍ益智仁各二錢五分. 右爲末, 鹽水和丸梧子大, 空心, 糯米飮呑下五十丸, 或七十丸. 《海藏》一名封髓丹.

Translation

Treats heart fire effulgent with kidney water insufficient — the heart having a desire, quickly moved by it and quick to discharge. Phellodendron (stir-fried) 2 nyang; amomum 1 nyang; licorice 5 don; pinellia (stir-fried), polyporus, poria, red lotus stamen and alpinia 2 don 5 pun each. Powder them, bind with salt water into pills the size of a firmiana seed, and take fifty or seventy on an empty stomach with glutinous rice broth. — Haejang 海藏 (Donguibogam · Jeong) Also called Seal the Marrow Elixir.

Clinical commentary 臨床

速於感動, 疾于施泄 — quickly moved, quick to discharge. The indication is premature ejaculation named plainly, and the mechanism is the Fire chapter's: the heart's fire too ready and the kidney's water too little to hold it. Phellodendron, amomum and licorice are the famous Bongsu-dan, Seal the Marrow Elixir, and the Haejang's version adds five more.
