Translation

Treats the eye struck by an object with swelling, pain and dimness. Raw rehmannia one hop, pressed for its juice; coptis 1 nyang; phellodendron and glauberite 5 don each. Powder the three, mix with the rehmannia juice into a cake, spread it on paper and apply over the eye. Not only for a blow — it may be used for any wind heat red eye and hot tearing. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A cold compress with medicine in it: three cooling powders worked into fresh rehmannia juice, spread on paper and laid over the closed eye. The Deukhyobang widens its own indication at the end, which is the right instinct — this is what to put on any hot, swollen, newly injured eye, and it is one of the few treatments here that would still help. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
