Translation

Treats the eye struck or pierced so that a screen breeds, with dimness and pain and inability to see. Bupleurum 2 don; rhubarb, Korean angelica, red peony and rhinoceros horn 1 don each; licorice 5 pun. Cut up as one packet, decoct in water, and take after food. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Six medicinals for a penetrating injury that has scarred — bupleurum at double weight to lift the formula to the eye, rhubarb to drain, angelica and red peony for the blood. Light in effect is what the name claims and probably what it was: a scar on the cornea does not clear. **Rhinoceros horn comes from a CITES-listed species and cannot lawfully be traded; water buffalo horn is used in its place.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
