Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治風濕相搏, 一身盡痛. 蒼朮ㆍ藁本各二錢, 羌活一錢半, 防風ㆍ升麻ㆍ柴胡各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎服. 《醫鑑》一名除風濕羌活湯. 《東垣》

Translation

Treats wind and damp contending, with pain over the whole body. Atractylodes lancea and ligusticum 2 don each; notopterygium 1.5 don; saposhnikovia, cimicifuga and bupleurum 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. Also called Jepungseup Ganghwal-tang. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Seup)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Six medicinals, all of them acrid and raising, with nothing that drains and nothing warm in the interior. This is Dongwon's method of treating damp by lifting it out through the surface rather than sending it down through the urine — the same approach the Jaundice chapter uses at 5.4.6.3 for kidney jaundice. The chapter's other route, draining through the urine, is at 3.8.3 and 3.11. Which is chosen turns on whether the damp is held at the surface or has sunk. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
