Treats wind and damp contending, with pulling pain of the limbs and body and puffy swelling. Notopterygium, aconite (blast-fried), white atractylodes and licorice 1.5 don each. Cut up, add 5 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Seup)

Clinical commentary 臨床

掣痛 — pulling pain — is the chapter's term for the pain of wind, as against the fixed heaviness of damp. 3.8.2.1 separates them precisely: the aching of the joints is damp, and the pulling that prevents bending and stretching is wind. Four medicinals at equal weight with notopterygium for the wind and aconite for the cold. **Contains aconite. Not suitable for self-administration.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
