Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

補心虛. 朱砂(水飛) 一兩, 麥門冬ㆍ馬牙硝ㆍ白茯苓ㆍ山藥ㆍ寒水石ㆍ甘草各五錢, 龍腦二分半. 右爲末, 蜜和, 一兩作三十丸, 每一丸, 砂糖水化下. 《錢乙》

Translation

Supplements heart vacuity. Cinnabar (water-ground) 1 nyang; ophiopogon, crystalline mirabilite, white poria, dioscorea, glauberite and licorice 5 don each; borneol 2 pun 5 ri. Powder them and bind with honey, each nyang making thirty pills; take one dissolved in sugar water. — Jeon Eul 錢乙 (Donguibogam · Sim)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Qian Yi's paediatric formula, and the tradition's standing pill for a frightened child — cinnabar to settle, two cold minerals to cool, ophiopogon and dioscorea to feed, and sugar water to make it go down. 補心虛, supplementing heart vacuity, is the indication, and the Children chapter uses it for night terrors. **Contains cinnabar, which is mercury sulfide.
