Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治心藏實熱, 口舌生瘡, 驚悸煩渴. 黃連ㆍ黃芩ㆍ麥門冬ㆍ半夏ㆍ地骨皮ㆍ茯神ㆍ赤芍藥ㆍ木通ㆍ生地黃ㆍ甘草各五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 薑五片, 水煎服. 《活人書》

Translation

Treats replete heat of the heart viscus, with sores on mouth and tongue, fright and palpitation, vexation and thirst. Coptis, scutellaria, ophiopogon, pinellia, lycium root bark, poria with pine root, red peony, akebia, fresh rehmannia and licorice 5 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, add 5 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Hwarinseo 活人書 (Donguibogam · Sim)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Dojeok-san — rehmannia, akebia, licorice — with seven more: the two yellows for the heat, two cooling supplements, poria-with-pine-root for the palpitation. 導赤, guiding out the red, is sending the heart's fire down through the small intestine to the urine, which is the Ojangyukbu chapter's 1.4 pairing put to use.
