Clinical commentary 臨床

Three drugs and a cup of warm wine, which is as light as anything in this chapter gets. Mint dominates by weight and is the orifice-opening aromatic; red poria drains the damp that the tradition held to be thickening the tongue; and a small quantity of scorpion tail is the wind-extinguishing agent. The alcohol is not incidental — it carries the aromatics and the scorpion alkaloids and is part of the design. Scorpion is toxic and the quantity here is deliberately small; it is also the ingredient that makes this formula unsuitable for a patient on anticoagulants or in any stroke of uncertain type. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
