治中風語言不正. 白附子ㆍ石菖蒲ㆍ遠志ㆍ全蝎ㆍ羌活ㆍ天麻ㆍ南星(牛膽製)ㆍ白殭蚕. 右等分爲末, 蜜丸菉豆大, 每五七十丸, 薑湯呑下. 《海藏》

Translation

Treats wind stroke with speech not properly formed. Typhonium, acorus, polygala, whole scorpion, notopterygium, gastrodia, arisaema prepared with ox bile and silkworm. Powder in equal parts, make honey pills the size of mung beans, and swallow fifty to seventy with ginger decoction. — Haejang 海藏 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The most-copied of the chapter's speech formulas and the one closest to a working internal-wind prescription. Four of the eight drugs are the classical wind-extinguishing set — typhonium, gastrodia, scorpion, silkworm — and the other four open the orifices and move phlegm. Nothing here supplements anything, which marks it as intended for the robust patient whose speech is slurred rather than the depleted one whose speech is slow. The bile-prepared arisaema is the detail that shows a careful hand; raw arisaema at this dose, taken fifty pills at a time, would be another matter.
