Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治先下血後大便. 赤小豆 五兩(浸令芽出曝乾), 當歸 一兩. 右擣爲末, 漿水調服二錢, 日三服. 《仲景》
Translation
Treats blood first and stool after. Adzuki bean 5 nyang, soaked until it sprouts and sun-dried; angelica 1 nyang. Pound to a powder and take 2 don stirred into fermented millet water, three times a day. — Junggyeong 仲景 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)
Clinical commentary 臨床
The Jingui's 近血, near bleeding — blood first, from low in the tract, before the stool. Two medicinals, and the bean is sprouted before drying, which the tradition held to give it the power to rise and disperse.
The pair with Hwangto-tang is the chapter's clearest instance of a diagnosis made from the order of what appears: the same question the Blood chapter's 1.15 asks about phlegm and blood.
