Translation
Treats scant blood with taxed spirit and kidney vacuity, the eyes dim, the pupils dilated and vision dim and flowering. The method should be to nourish and cool the blood, scatter fire and remove wind. Prepared rehmannia 1 nyang; bupleurum 8 don; dried raw rehmannia wine-dried over a low fire 7 don 5 pun; the body of Korean angelica (wine-washed) and scutellaria 5 don each; asparagus, lycium root bark, schisandra and coptis 3 don each; ginseng, bitter orange and roasted licorice 2 don each. Powder them, make honey pills the size of mung beans, and send a hundred down with clear tea. It is also called Sukjihwang-hwan. Whenever vision grows gradually dim, now bright and now dark, this is the proof of lost blood, and this should be taken; taken together with Jeongji-hwan (its formula is in the Spirit chapter) it is better still. — Danggye Simbeop 丹心 (Donguibogam · An)
