Translation

Treats cough from cold damage. Ginseng, dried pueraria, platycodon, angelica dahurica, ephedra, dried ginger, white atractylodes and licorice, 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add three slices of ginger and two stalks of scallion white, and decoct. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Haesu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The name promises to moisten the lung and nothing in the formula moistens it: ephedra, pueraria, angelica dahurica, scallion and dried ginger are all releasing or warming drugs, and ginseng and atractylodes supplement without wetting. What the formula actually does is open an exterior in a patient too depleted to be opened with ephedra alone, which is a reasonable thing to want; the title is the aspiration rather than the action. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
