Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治脾肺虛寒, 咳嗽痰盛. 紫蘇葉ㆍ桑白皮ㆍ靑皮ㆍ杏仁ㆍ五味子ㆍ麻黃ㆍ陳皮ㆍ甘草各一錢, 人參ㆍ半夏各六分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑三, 水煎服. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats cough with abundant phlegm from vacuity cold of the spleen and lung. Perilla leaf, mulberry root bark, unripe tangerine peel, apricot kernel, schisandra, ephedra, tangerine peel and licorice, 1 don each; ginseng and pinellia, 6 fun each. Cut up, make one packet, add three slices of ginger, and decoct in water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Haesu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A dispersing formula with a little support in it: ephedra and perilla leaf open, mulberry root bark and apricot kernel descend, the two tangerine peels move the qi, and ginseng and pinellia come in at the smallest weight in the formula. The proportion is the point — in a patient the indication calls 虛寒, vacuous and cold, the supplementing drugs are still kept to six fun, because a cough that needs opening cannot be closed in at the same time. **Contains pinellia, which is toxic in the raw state and must be properly processed.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
