Translation

Treats wine toxin with heat and a dysentery of pus and blood with abdominal pain, long unhealed and with no effect from a hundred medicines. Ailanthus root bark and ginseng, 1 nyang each. Powder, and take 2 don each time on an empty stomach stirred into rice water. Avoid wine, wheat noodles, chicken, pork, fish, fruit and vegetables. — Bonsabang 本事 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two drugs for the case the Bonsa describes as beyond a hundred medicines: a drinker with chronic bloody diarrhoea. Ailanthus bark astringes and was used against amoebic dysentery; ginseng supports a patient who has been losing blood for months. The dietary proscription is the severest in the chapter and effectively reduces the patient to plain rice, which — leaving aside the wine — is close to what a modern elimination approach to an inflamed bowel would advise. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
