Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治陰黃, 煩燥, 喘嘔, 不渴. 茵蔯一物湯, 加陳皮ㆍ白朮ㆍ生薑ㆍ半夏ㆍ茯苓 各一錢也. 《活人》
Translation
Treats yin jaundice with vexation and agitation, panting and retching, and no thirst. To the Virgate Wormwood Single Substance Decoction add tangerine peel, white atractylodes, fresh ginger, pinellia and poria 1 don each. — Hwarinseo 活人 (Donguibogam · Hwangdal)
Clinical commentary 臨床
不渴 — no thirst — is the sign that separates this from the formula above, where there was thirst. Thirst in a jaundiced patient points to heat and to fluid that cannot reach the tissues; its absence points to rheum sitting in the stomach, and the additions here are the standard pinellia-and-poria pair for exactly that. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
