Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治傷寒不得汗, 以致鼻衄, 纔見血, 急用此止之. 滑石末, 飯丸梧子大, 每十丸, 微嚼破, 新水嚥下, 立止. 《綱目》

Translation

Treats cold damage where no sweat was got, bringing on nosebleed; the moment blood is seen, use this at once to stop it. Powdered talc made into rice pills the size of a firmiana seed, ten at a time, lightly chewed open and swallowed down with fresh water, and it stops at once. — Uihak Gangmok 綱目 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Talc alone, chewed and swallowed cold. It is the chapter's mildest nosebleed remedy and is meant for the first drops, before the two ephedra formulas above become necessary. 纔見血, 急用此 — the moment blood is seen, use this — is the timing, and it distinguishes the formula from everything else at 1.13, which is for bleeding that has established itself. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
