Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治衄血. 當歸ㆍ赤芍藥ㆍ生地黃ㆍ香附子ㆍ黃芩ㆍ梔子ㆍ側柏葉各一錢, 黃連七分, 赤茯苓ㆍ䓀莄各五分, (生)甘草三分, 藕節五箇. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎, 入童便調服. 《回春》

Translation

Treats nosebleed. Angelica, red peony, fresh rehmannia, cyperus, scutellaria, gardenia and arborvitae leaf 1 don each; coptis 7 pun; red poria and platycodon 5 pun each; raw licorice 3 pun; lotus root nodes five. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water, and take with child's urine stirred in. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The chapter's representative nosebleed formula: three cold medicinals to clear, two stanchers — arborvitae leaf and lotus root node — to hold, and cyperus to keep the qi moving so the holding does not bind.
