Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治陰冷如神. ○歌曰, 一錢白礬八分丹(黃丹也), 二分胡椒細細硏, 焰硝一分共四味, 好醋調和手肉搽. ○又歌曰, 男左女右合陰處, 渾身是汗濕衣衫. 此方用者如神效, 不義之人不可傳. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Treats cold genitals with divine effect. A verse runs: alum one don, red lead eight pun, pepper two pun ground fine, saltpetre one pun — four medicinals in all, mixed with good vinegar and spread on the flesh of the palm. A second verse: the left hand for a man and the right for a woman, laid against the genitals; the whole body breaks out in sweat enough to soak the shirt. Whoever uses this formula finds it works like a spirit, and it must not be passed to an unrighteous person. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four minerals in vinegar, smeared on the palm and the palm held against the genitals until the patient sweats through his shirt — the method matters more than the medicine, and the medicine is not swallowed. The verse form and the closing line about not passing it to an unrighteous person mark it as a transmitted secret rather than a clinical prescription. **Contains red lead.
