Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治五淋, 一服如神. 當歸(酒洗)ㆍ大黃(酒浸)ㆍ牛膝(酒洗)ㆍ木香ㆍ雄黃ㆍ海金沙各五錢. 右爲末, 每二錢, 臨臥好酒調下. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Treats the five stranguries — one dose like a spirit. Angelica (wine-washed), rhubarb (wine-steeped), achyranthes (wine-washed), costus, realgar and lygodium spore 5 don each. Powder them and take 2 don at bedtime stirred into good wine. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Sobyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three medicinals washed or steeped in wine and the powder taken in wine at bedtime — the wine carries it downward and the patient sleeps on it. Rhubarb here works on the bowel to relieve the bladder, which is 1.7's rule. **Contains realgar (arsenic sulfide), which is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
