Interlocking Resolution Drink

Gyohae-eum

한글 교해음  ·  Pinyin Jiao Jie Yin

交解飮

A cross-reference leaf only: the leaf gives no composition of its own but says the formula is Ssanghae-eumja 雙解飮子, printed further down this chapter under miasmic malaria and registered here as ssanghae-eumja. That leaf adds two further names for the same formula, 交解飮 and 生熟飮, so the three names stand for one preparation; no ingredients are entered on this entry.

Clinical commentary 臨床

A cross-reference rather than a formula of its own. The chapter lists it among the treatments for cold malaria alongside Insamyangwi-tang, Gwabu-tang, Chogwa-eum and Sihogyegang-tang, then says in four characters that it is simply Ssanghae-eumja under another name, with the composition given further down under miasmic malaria. The two names say the same thing twice over. 交解 and 雙解 both mean a resolution carried on both sides at once — the exterior and the interior together — which is why one prescription can serve both the cold malaria of this section and the miasmic malaria of the later one. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
