Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治暑月傷冷濕ㆍ吐瀉. 桂心ㆍ赤茯苓 右等分爲末, 煉蜜和勻, 每一兩作八丸, 井水化下一丸. 《局方》

Translation

Treats injury by cold damp in the summer months with vomiting and diarrhoea. Cassia heart and red poria in equal parts, powdered, mixed evenly with refined honey; make eight pills to the nyang and dissolve one in well water. — Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Seo)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two drugs and honey: cassia to warm the middle and red poria to lead the water out, which is Daesun-san reduced to its two essential motions. Dissolving a warming pill in cold well water is the same device the preceding entry uses, and it tells you something about the patients these formulas were for — people who would not take anything hot in high summer, however much their stomachs needed it. As a keeping preparation in a honey pill it would have travelled well. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
