Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治熱眼病後, 毒氣攻目, 生瞖膜遮障. 麥門冬ㆍ當歸ㆍ車前子各二兩, 靑箱子ㆍ防風ㆍ枳殼各一兩, 茺蔚子ㆍ細辛ㆍ枸杞子ㆍ澤瀉ㆍ生乾地黃ㆍ石決明ㆍ黃連各五錢. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 空心以麥門冬湯呑下五七十丸. 《得效》

Translation

Treats toxic qi attacking the eye after a hot eye illness, with a screen and membrane breeding and veiling. Ophiopogon, Korean angelica and plantago seed 2 nyang each; celosia seed, saposhnikovia and bitter orange 1 nyang each; leonurus seed, asarum, lycium fruit, alisma, dried raw rehmannia, abalone shell and coptis 5 don each. Powder them, make honey pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take fifty to seventy on an empty stomach, swallowed down with an ophiopogon decoction. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

For the screen left behind after an acute eye illness has passed — so the formula is moistening rather than clearing, with ophiopogon both inside it and as the draught.
