Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治右腎及肝腎不足, 眼光黑花昏暗, 生靑白瞖. 甘菊四兩, 枸杞子三兩, 熟地黃ㆍ肉蓯蓉各二兩, 巴戟一兩. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 空心溫酒或鹽湯呑下五七十丸. 《直指》

Translation

Treats insufficiency of the right kidney and of liver and kidney with black flowers before the eyes, dimness and a blue-white screen breeding. Chrysanthemum 4 nyang; lycium fruit 3 nyang; prepared rehmannia and cistanche 2 nyang each; morinda 1 nyang. Powder them, make honey pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take fifty to seventy on an empty stomach with warm wine or salt decoction. — Jikji 直指 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Five medicinals and chrysanthemum at four nyang — the only formula in the chapter that makes the flower its chief rather than an adjunct. The right kidney is the yang kidney in this reading, so cistanche and morinda warm it while the chrysanthemum and lycium keep the warming from rising as fire. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
