Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治失精. 桂枝ㆍ白芍藥ㆍ龍骨(煆)ㆍ牡蠣(煆)ㆍ生薑各三兩, 甘草二兩, 大棗十二枚. 右剉, 以水七升, 煮至三升, 分三服. 《仲景》

Translation

Treats loss of essence. Cinnamon twig, white peony, dragon bone (calcined), oyster shell (calcined) and fresh ginger 3 nyang each; licorice 2 nyang; jujube twelve. Cut up, boil in 7 seung of water down to 3, and divide into three doses. — Junggyeong 仲景 (Donguibogam · Jeong)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Zhongjing's formula from the Jingui, and one of the tradition's most-used — Gyeji-tang with dragon bone and oyster shell, given there for loss of essence in a man and dreams of intercourse in a woman. The Jingui's full indication includes a cold penis, dizziness, hair loss and a hollow pulse, and the Bogam gives only the first two graphs. The formula does not lock so much as steady: cinnamon and peony harmonize, and the two shells settle a spirit that has been startled out of its keeping. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
