Donguibogam

Translation

Treats internal obstruction arising from a red-eye illness or from eating salty things. Bat droppings, Korean angelica, cicada slough and horsetail 3 nyang each. Powder them; boil 4 nyang of a wether's liver soft, pound it to a paste, bind the powder into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take fifty on an empty stomach with boiled water — in a hundred days it is as it was. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The name records that the formula came in a dream, and the Bogam keeps it. Four medicinals bound with a sheep's liver, taken for a hundred days; the liver and the bat droppings are both vitamin A, so for an eye dimmed by deficiency the hundred days is not an idle promise. Salty food as a cause is the chapter's own, and it is repeated in the dietary section. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
