Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治久新諸瘡, 傳變爲破傷風. 麝香一字, 朱砂一兩, 生黑豆二錢半, 草烏三兩半(半生ㆍ半焙存性, 米醋同淬). 右爲末, 酒調半錢服之, 神效. 《得效》

Translation

Treats old and new sores of every kind that have passed over and turned into lockjaw. Musk, one ja; cinnabar, 1 nyang; raw black soybean, 2 don 5 fun; aconite kusnezoffii, 3 nyang 5 don, half of it raw and half calcined with the nature retained and quenched in rice vinegar. Powder; take half a don stirred into wine, with spirit-like effect. — Uibang Yuchwi 得效 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

**This must not be prepared.** Three and a half nyang of aconite kusnezoffii, half of it raw, together with a nyang of cinnabar and CITES-listed musk. The halving of the aconite into a raw and a calcined portion is a genuine piece of pharmaceutical thinking — the raw half for immediate effect, the processed half for duration — and the raw black soybean is again the antidote included in the formula.
