Clinical commentary 臨床

The opening formula of the section that treats lockjaw by the three methods of cold damage — exterior, half-exterior and interior — and the staging is the section's whole contribution. While the disease is still in the exterior, release the exterior: notopterygium, saposhnikovia, ligusticum and asarum, with tangkuei and peony to keep the blood from being emptied by the sweating. Sanguisorba is the one unusual inclusion and is there for the wound itself. It is a sane formula applied to a disease it cannot touch. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
