Translation

Treats lockjaw that has entered the interior while there is still exterior heat. Chuanxiong, 3 don; scutellaria, 2 don; licorice, 5 fun. Cut up, make one packet and decoct in water. After two or three doses, use Daegunghwang-tang. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three drugs and an expiry date: give it two or three times and then move on. That is the section's staged treatment compressed into a single entry, and the formula's job is only to hold the ground between the exterior stage and the purging — chuanxiong still reaching outward, scutellaria already working inward. Prescriptions with a stated term of use are rare in the Bogam and worth marking wherever they appear. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
