Translation

Treats hidden rash attacking upward with the head and face red and swollen and itching, the skin peeling and breaking into sores that spread and run as if insects were crawling. Aconite main root washed in a decoction three to five times and dried over a low fire, and schizonepeta spikes, 4 nyang each; mint 2 nyang 5 don; Korean angelica washed, steeped three days and dried over a low fire, 8 nyang. Powder them, bind with a rice-flour paste boiled in vinegar into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take fifty to seventy down with warm wine. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Angelica at twice the aconite's weight, and both heavily processed — the aconite washed three to five times and the angelica steeped three days before either goes into the powder. The Deukhyobang is treating a rash that has broken down and spread, and treats it as wind in the blood: move the blood with angelica, drive the wind with aconite, and keep the pill small. **Contains aconite main root, which is toxic. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
