Coarse preparation: 3 don per dose decocted in a cup of water down to six tenths, strained and taken warm; when the malign blood descends, stop at once. The source adds a warning: where there is a place of great pain, an abscess will surely form, and Ohyangyeongyo-tang without rhubarb should be decocted and taken with bamboo sap stirred in. **Note on modern practice: gadfly and leech are not used in contemporary practice. Lochia that stops abruptly with fever or worsening pain suggests retained products or infection and requires urgent obstetric evaluation.**

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治産後惡露方行, 忽然斷絶, 腰腹重痛, 或流注腿股作痛. 桃仁ㆍ蘇木ㆍ生地黃 各五錢, 䖟蟲ㆍ水蛭(幷炒) 各三十枚. 右爲麄末, 每三錢, 水一盞煎至六分, 去滓溫服. 惡血下卽止. 如有大痛處, 必作癰疽, 宜取五香連翹湯 <span class='sochu'>方見癰疽</span>, 去大黃, 水煎, 入竹瀝服之. 《良方》
Translation
Treats lochia after birth that has just begun to flow and is suddenly cut off, with heavy pain of the lumbus and abdomen, or pain flowing down into the thigh and hip. Peach kernel, sappan wood, and raw rehmannia, 5 don each; dry-fried gadfly and leech, 30 pieces each. Grind coarsely; take 3 don each time, decocted in a cup of water down to six tenths, strained and taken warm. When the malign blood descends, stop at once.
