Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治胎漏下血. 人參ㆍ桑寄生ㆍ熟地黃ㆍ續斷各一錢半, 當歸ㆍ川芎ㆍ白朮ㆍ艾葉各七分半. 右剉作一貼, 水煎服. 《得效》

Translation

Treats uterine spotting with bleeding. Ginseng, mulberry mistletoe, cooked rehmannia and dipsacus 1 don 5 pun each; angelica, chuanxiong, white atractylodes and mugwort leaf 7 pun 5 ri each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Mulberry mistletoe and dipsacus lead here rather than the glue-and-mugwort pair, and they are the other standing group for holding a pregnancy — both supplement the liver and kidney and are held to secure the foetus at its root rather than to staunch the bleeding directly. 續斷, dipsacus, means literally to continue what is broken, and it is named for exactly this use. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
