Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治胎漏, 安胎極妙. 熟地黃ㆍ艾葉ㆍ當歸ㆍ川芎ㆍ阿膠珠ㆍ甘草(灸)ㆍ黃芪各一錢. 右剉作一貼, 水煎服, 日二次. 《正傳》局方, 無黃芪, 有白芍藥.

Translation

Treats uterine spotting and quiets the foetus most marvellously. Cooked rehmannia, mugwort leaf, angelica, chuanxiong, ass-hide glue beads, licorice (mix-fried) and astragalus 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take, twice a day. The Gukbang version has no astragalus and has white peony instead. — Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Ass-hide glue with mugwort leaf is the tradition's standing pair for bleeding in pregnancy, and the four formulas at 1.15.3 to 1.15.6 are all built on it. The glue thickens and fills; the mugwort warms and holds. Samul-tang sits inside this one with astragalus added to lift.
