Clinical commentary 臨床

Radish seed and burnt soapberry at the head of it, and those two are the formula: radish seed breaks food accumulation and brings the qi down, soapberry is the tradition's drug for a phlegm too thick to be coughed up. The indication list is a catalogue of the phlegm kinds the chapter distinguishes, which is the point of a 大 formula — it is the one to reach for when the phlegm cannot be assigned to a single cause. **Contains arisaema and pinellia, toxic in the raw state and to be properly processed. Soapberry burnt to a powder is a strong irritant and an emetic in quantity.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
