Translation

Treats white lichen wind. Fleeceflower root, schizonepeta spikes, sophora root and atractylodes lancea 4 nyang each. Powder them; take 2 geun of fat gleditsia pod with the skin, strings and seeds removed, boil it down in water in an earthenware vessel to a paste, and bind the powder into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take thirty to fifty on an empty stomach with wine or tea as preferred. — Danggye Simbeop 丹心 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four medicinals in equal weight bound with two geun of gleditsia pod boiled to a paste — the binder outweighs the medicine, and is itself the strongest drug in it. Fleeceflower root heads the formula and is the one the whole lichen-wind group leans on, here and in the two Hasuo-san formulas beside it. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
