Donguibogam

Translation

Treats purple and white lichen wind, scabby itch, mottled white patches, and a cracked rough skin that weeps. Gather cocklebur leaf on the fifth day of the fifth month and dry it in the sun; powder it and take 2 don in wine, twice a day. At a hundred days the disease comes out, the skin lifts and the scabs fall away, and the flesh is like congealed cream. Or make honey pills the size of parasol-tree seeds and take thirty to fifty down with wine, which is also good. — Bonchogang 本草 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

One medicinal taken for a hundred days, and the hundred days is the formula. Gathered on the fifth of the fifth month, as the toad in Gamseup-san was — the year's most yang moment, used for a disorder read as wind in the skin. The promised endpoint is unusually concrete: the old skin lifts, the scabs come away, and what is underneath is smooth. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
