Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

水蛭, 尋起九條, 入水椀養住, 至七月七日, 取出陰乾, 秤有多少, 入麝香, 蘇合香, 三味一般, 細硏爲末, 蜜少許爲餠, 遇陽興時, 卽將少許擦左脚心, 卽時痿縮, 過日復興, 再擦. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Find nine leeches and keep them alive in a bowl of water until the seventh day of the seventh month; take them out, dry them in shade and weigh them; add musk and storax to the same weight, three ingredients alike, grind fine to a powder and make a cake with a little honey. When the yang rises, rub a little on the centre of the left sole, and it wilts and shrinks at once; if it rises again another day, rub again. — Gogeum Uigam 古今醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Jeong)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A formula for making an erection subside, applied to the sole of the left foot. The section it belongs to, 節慾儲精, is on restraining desire, and this is the Uigam's help for a man who has resolved to and finds his body disagrees. The leeches are kept alive until the festival of the seventh night, which is the lovers' festival — the date is not an accident. Nothing in the formula reaches the organ from the sole.
