Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治濁氣在上, 生䐜脹. 吳茱萸ㆍ大黃(酒浸) 各一兩, 厚朴五錢, 沈香ㆍ白朮ㆍ陳皮各三錢, 白茯苓ㆍ澤瀉ㆍ當歸ㆍ木香ㆍ靑皮各二錢. 右爲末, 湯浸蒸餠和丸梧子大. 溫水下七八十丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats turbid qi above producing distension. Evodia and rhubarb (wine-steeped) 1 nyang each; magnolia bark 5 don; aloeswood, white atractylodes and tangerine peel 3 don each; white poria, alisma, angelica, costus and green tangerine peel 2 don each. Powder them, make pills with steamed cake soaked in hot water, the size of a firmiana seed, and take seventy or eighty down with warm water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Changman)

Clinical commentary 臨床

交泰 is the name of the eleventh hexagram, in which heaven stands below and earth above so that the two communicate — the image of clear and turbid restored to their proper places. The formula is named for the condition it aims at rather than for its ingredients. Evodia and wine-steeped rhubarb at a nyang each is an unusual pairing: one hot and one cold, one warming the centre and one purging it.
