Clinical commentary 臨床

A seventeen-drug summerheat powder with a date on it: do not use it after Frost Descent. That is the only seasonal prohibition in the chapter and it is worth noting — the formula is cool, draining and aromatic, and in cold weather it would do a patient nothing but harm. The construction is elsholtzia over a four-drug water-draining core with akebia and plantain seed added, so it works on the urine as much as the stool, and the aromatic tail of amomum, fennel and costus keeps the cold drugs from stalling the stomach. Made up as a powder in quantity and dispensed through a season, which the two-nyang-and-upward weights make plain. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
