Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治尿血. 當歸ㆍ生地黃ㆍ梔子(炒)ㆍ黃連ㆍ赤芍藥ㆍ黃柏ㆍ瞿麥ㆍ赤茯苓ㆍ木通ㆍ萹蓄ㆍ知母ㆍ麥門冬各七分, 甘草五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 燈心一團, 烏梅一箇, 水煎服. 《回春》

Translation

Treats bloody urine. Angelica, fresh rehmannia, gardenia (stir-fried), coptis, red peony, phellodendron, dianthus, red poria, akebia, polygonum, anemarrhena and ophiopogon 7 pun each; licorice 5 pun. Cut up, make one packet, add a bundle of juncus and one mume, decoct in water and take. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Palcheong-san's draining group with the cooling and blood group beside it — the fullest formula for bloody urine in the chapter. Dianthus, akebia and polygonum are the tradition's standing trio for painful, bloody urination, and the mume at the end is the astringent that keeps the draining from taking the blood with it. **Haematuria requires investigation; infection, stones and malignancy must be excluded.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
