Green and Gold Pill

Cheonggeum-hwan

한글 청금환  ·  Pinyin Qing Jin Wan

靑金丸

The id carries a -gae suffix because the existing cheonggeum-hwan is 淸金丸, a different formula of scutellaria alone from the Haejang; the two names romanise alike. The chapter also carries 淸金丸, whose name romanises identically; that formula is registered as cheonggeum-hwan-gae and this one is distinguished by its section, the cough of food accumulation.

Clinical commentary 臨床

刧藥 — a robbing drug — is the chapter's own term, set out at 3.15: a drastic preparation that stops a cough by force rather than by treating it, to be used when nothing else answers and not for long. The dose says the same thing: five to seven small pills, where the chapter's ordinary pills go fifty to seventy. The two mother drugs are the same pair as Gamiimo-hwan, and the croton frost here is swallowed rather than discarded. **Croton frost is a violent purgative and toxic. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
