Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治諸般咳嗽. 杏仁ㆍ白茯苓各一錢半, 橘紅一錢二分, 五味子ㆍ桔梗ㆍ甘草各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎服. 《必用》 ○一名杏仁五味子湯. 《明醫》

Translation

Treats coughs of every kind. Apricot kernel and white poria, 1 don 5 fun each; red tangerine peel, 1 don 2 fun; schisandra, platycodon and licorice, 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, and decoct in water. ○ Also called Apricot Kernel and Schisandra Decoction. — Piryong 必用 · Myeongui 明醫 (Donguibogam · Haesu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Six drugs, none of them strong, and it is the chapter's general cough prescription — the one offered at 3.7 for 通治, treating all kinds. Apricot kernel and platycodon move the lung qi in opposite directions, down and up; poria and tangerine peel take the damp and the phlegm; schisandra holds.
