Clinical commentary 臨床

The seasonal instruction is what makes this formula worth knowing. Coptis is cold and evodia hot, and rather than fixing their ratio the source ties it to the calendar — more cooling when the year is hot, more warming when it is cold, for the same patient with the same complaint. Few formulas state so plainly that a prescription is a relationship between a body and a season rather than a fixed object. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
