Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治呑酸. 半夏ㆍ陳皮ㆍ茯苓ㆍ梔子(炒)ㆍ黃連(炒)ㆍ香附子 各一錢, 枳實ㆍ川芎ㆍ蒼朮 各八分, 白芍藥 七分, 神麴(炒) 五分, 甘草 三分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑三片, 水煎服. 《集略》

Translation

Treats the swallowing of sour. Pinellia, tangerine peel, poria, dry-fried gardenia, dry-fried coptis, and cyperus, 1 don each; unripe bitter orange, cnidium, and atractylodes, 8 fun each; white peony 7 fun; dry-fried medicated leaven 5 fun; licorice 3 fun. Cut the above, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Jimnyak 集略 (Donguibogam · Naesang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two Aged Decoction with a coptis-and-gardenia pair added for the heat and cyperus for the constraint — which is the chapter's standing reading of acid reflux: phlegm below, heat above, and something bound between them. Peony and licorice at the bottom soften the cramping that so often comes with it.
