Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治腎虛目昏, 漸生內障. 磁石火煆醋淬七次, 硏水飛ㆍ菟絲子(酒製) 各二兩, 熟地黃ㆍ肉蓯蓉(酒浸焙)ㆍ石斛ㆍ五味子ㆍ枸杞子ㆍ楮實子ㆍ覆盆子(酒浸)ㆍ車前子(酒蒸) 各一兩, 沉香ㆍ靑鹽各五錢. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 空心鹽湯下七十丸. 《濟生》

Translation

Treats kidney vacuity with dim eyes and an internal obstruction gradually breeding. Magnetite calcined and vinegar-quenched seven times, ground and water-levigated, and cuscuta wine-processed, 2 nyang each; prepared rehmannia, cistanche (wine-steeped and dried over a low fire), dendrobium, schisandra, lycium fruit, paper-mulberry fruit, raspberry (wine-steeped) and plantago seed (wine-steamed) 1 nyang each; agarwood and blue salt 5 don each. Powder them, make honey pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take seventy on an empty stomach with salt decoction. — Jesaengbang 濟生 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Magnetite at the head of an eye formula, calcined and quenched seven times until it will grind — heavy, descending, and in this tradition the drug for a sense organ that has lost its grip.
