Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治痰火上攻, 耳鳴耳聾. 半夏ㆍ赤茯苓ㆍ陳皮ㆍ甘草ㆍ萹蓄ㆍ木通ㆍ瞿麥ㆍ黃栢(鹽炒) 各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑三片, 水煎服. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats phlegm fire attacking upward with ringing in the ears and deafness. Pinellia, red poria, tangerine peel, licorice, knotgrass, akebia, dianthus and phellodendron (salt-fried) 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · I)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Ijin-tang with three of the Urine chapter's drainers added — knotgrass, akebia and dianthus. Danxi treats a ringing ear by leading the fire out through the water, which is the same route the Small Intestine chapter's 9.6 takes for the heart. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
