Translation

A medicine that treats all headaches: head wind, toothache, red eyes, brain discharge, ringing ears, one-sided and full head wind, and headache with the nose blocked and the voice heavy. Frankincense, myrrh, chuanxiong, realgar and angelica dahurica 2 don each; mirabilite 5 don. Powder them; have the patient lie on their back holding cool water in the mouth, and snuff a little of the medicine up the nose — it answers at once. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Du)

Clinical commentary 臨床

口含凉水 — holding cool water in the mouth while the powder goes up the nose, which stops them swallowing it. It is a careful detail, and the same device the Teeth chapter uses at 4.26. **Contains realgar (arsenic sulfide), which is toxic. For external use only.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
