Translation

Stops blood flooding. Palm fiber and dark plum, 1 nyang each; dried ginger 1 nyang 5 don. Burn all of them with their nature retained and powder them; take 2 don each time, stirred into a dark-plum decoction with wine, on an empty stomach. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Po)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three ingredients, all charred, and the charring is the formula. 燒存性 — burnt so that the nature is retained — is the tradition's standard method for turning a medicinal into a hemostatic, and here it is applied to all three at once: palm fiber to bind, dark plum for its sourness, dried ginger for the warmth a bleeding patient has lost. The name claims a great deal, and on the flooding shelf it sits at the opposite end from Dokhaeng-san, which moves before it stops. This one simply stops. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
