Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治血崩不止. 香附子(炒黑) 四兩, 當歸尾一兩二錢, 五靈脂(炒) 一兩. 右爲末, 每二錢, 醋湯調, 空心服.

Translation

Treats blood flooding that will not stop. Cyperus, dry-fried to black, 4 nyang; angelica tail 1 nyang 2 don; dry-fried flying-squirrel droppings 1 nyang. Powder the above; take 2 don stirred into vinegar broth, on an empty stomach. — Donguibogam · Po

Clinical commentary 臨床

Cyperus dry-fried to black — the tradition's standard preparation for turning a Qi-mover into a blood-stauncher — with angelica's tail and flying-squirrel droppings behind it. The whole formula rests on the same principle as Dokhaeng-san elsewhere in this chapter: a flood stopped too abruptly leaves stasis behind, so the agents chosen are ones that move and stop at once. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
