Translation

Treats both lids swollen hard as a peach or plum so that the eye cannot be opened. Antelope horn shavings, saposhnikovia, notopterygium, ginseng, red poria, cimicifuga, rhubarb, plantago seed, scrophularia and scutellaria 7 pun each; gardenia and asarum 3 pun each. Cut up as one packet and decoct in water. — Uibang Yuchwi 類聚 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Lids swollen hard enough to close the eye, treated by draining — rhubarb and cimicifuga in the same formula, pushing down and lifting out at once. Ginseng and poria are kept in because the Yuchwi expects to give it for days, and the two tiny drugs at the end aim it at the eye. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
